It's mainly Kubrick over Craven. I'm not huge on the Shining either. But you keep saying how such a classic the Shining is, but it didn't even rank, Craven's did. And then Craven actually has multiple other horror movies you like. In short, shitcan Kubrick.
Just say the word, El El Sucio, ohhhh!

Kubrick was a much better director than Craven, regardless of him doing just 1 horror movie. Yes, Craven did more horror films than any other genre. Nightmare on Elm Street and The Last House on the Left are his two best imo. (Sorry I don't like Scream) But as I stated earlier he had a lot of misses so I took that into consideration. Perhaps I'm just bias and he should still be on the GOATS anyway, idk.

You keep reverting to that top 25 list but that has nothing to do with directors. I can dislike a movie but have a high opinion of the director. The Shining is a classic but it's not one of my personal favorites. In fact I like Doctor Sleep more than I did The Shining. However, I have a high opinion of Kubrick in general and i feel he did a great job with that film regardless of my opinion of it.

Fair enough, that's what I was getting at, obviously your high opinion of Kubrick in general is what does it, not his contribution to horror per se.

You have a good point though. Kubrick, Jackson, even Snyder... have they really contributed to the Horror genre in any meaningful way? I mean if we are going by the directors contributions to Horror alone then I agree those guys shouldn't even be in the discussion. Or at the very least placed further down the list.

Perhaps I will revise my list.
