Include them, use your veto, and I'll pick a band that I think we'll all be happy with at 29 except me.Headhunter wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 8:37 pm Jason breaking the game![]()
Look. I’ll spend my veto to move them up somewhere if we’re going to include them. If not, Jason should make another pick.

There's 300 other bullets to load that don't have metal written all over them, but Jason goes for it anyways.
Just say the word, El El Sucio, ohhhh!

Does this mean no Rainbow, no Deep Purple?

I don’t think Three Dog Night belongs here but this is at least a defensible pick and I’m ready to move on

They were in my top 5 all time at one point.Headhunter wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 8:42 pm I don’t think Three Dog Night belongs here but this is at least a defensible pick and I’m ready to move on![]()

Our top ten when we get there sometime in September is going to have Marshall Tucker and Jethro Tull in it

Re: The HMF Draft Vol. 2 - Battle of the Bands (Discussion Thread)
Didn't you get the memo? No metal! Jethro Tull is excluded.

Does anybody call those two the Godfathers of Metal? I mean I specifically said if they have a heavy connotation with a sub-genre. And you pick... Sabbath that practically invented it.

Rainbow, Purple and Sabbath are all much closer to each other than a metal band like Metallica. Which is where I thought the distinction was already set.Headhunter wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 8:45 pmOn the rock/metal scale, Deep Purple is definitely closer to rock.
So no Sabbatical or Metallical. But yes to Purple.
Rainbow then?

Ray Charles is considered the godfather of rock and roll but you won't see him mentioned on this list.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 8:45 pmDoes anybody call those two the Godfathers of Metal? Also. Would be nice if you did me a solid and vetoed Three Dog Night.

29 is the loneliest number

Hendrix wouldn't make my personal 30 but he has several killer jams.

I know how some feel about Jimi here but I’m just glad he made the list. If he made it to my next pick I probably would have played him.
