What is the state of horror today?

My wife had a "payday" visa linked to her work. Now that she has started another job, she no longer has that. I would just cash my checks through my local grocery store (Kroger). We have finally realized we need a bank account. With this new job, she is making a lot of money, and it has been hard to cash her checks.

I did away with credit cards back in the early 2000's. I was over $20,000 in debt. Had to go through credit counseling, and they helped me pay them off. It took years.

given the prevalence of ghosts and zombies (and even vampires, though not really mentioned here) within horror film, why do you guys think that werewolves don't ever get that kind of exposure? is there just not enough to do with them creatively? is it because people don't want to watch that as much? what do you think?

Credit cards I can agree with. So easy to overspend with the "I'll pay it off next month" mantra. But a basic bank account and debit card. I do t know how I'd work without it. I almost never have cashthese days. Half the time I don't even need a card with the new ApplePay system. Just need my phone and my fingerprint.

That's an interesting point. I don't know the year-to-year ratio of vampire (horror, not teen angst) to werewolf movie releases, but that'd be interesting to look into.

Even back in the 1930's and 1940's, vampire flicks (such as The Vampire's Ghost and The Return of the Vampire) were far more common than werewolf flicks (such as She-Wolf of London, Cry of the Werewolf, and The Undying Monster).

There is likely something to be said about the fact that the special effects needed to effectively create a werewolf film versus those needed for vampire or zombie flicks is significantly higher and possibly daunting to amateur film-makers. It can be done (look at Curse of the Wolf, 2006), but when you can do a vampire or zombie movie without any special effects whatsoever, one can see how that's more appealing.

you could be right about fx being the deciding factor. ghosts and vamps and zombies are probably a lot cheaper to do. but even like a ginger snaps level would be okay, as far as i'm concerned.

it also seems like most werewolf movies follow the same formula of like a transformation-centric movie. like that's the whole point, rather than just part of the narrative. and maybe that isn't as appealing too. i don't know.
