POLL: Categories on the HMF board
Following from the discussion of making HMF a Horror board, the question of how many sections we have/should have was brought up. I thought I’d see what HMF wanted to do with it all. Please let your ideas flow.

Re: POLL: Categories on the HMF board
I didn’t like having done send of horror categories with very little activity. I think it was a turnoff for new people as it felt hard to see what was going on personally. But I’m happy to trial a few of thays ehat people want.

I would assume he means the "General Horror" board.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:What's "Catch All"?

"Very little activity?"
"Trial for a few days" only?
Nearly 1,000 topics were created in the old franchise boards alone on the original HMF. That's not including Classic Horror, Knee-High Bastards, Vampires and Werewolves, etc... If we don't add them all back, or if we do add them all back and there is extremely limited activity, we should probably change the name of horrormoviefans.com.

The main reason I'd want more boards is to make finding what you're looking for easier. Of course, we have a working search here, so that might not be relevant, but you know what I mean. If I wanted to peruse some topics on slasher films, it'd be nice to just go to a "Slasher" board and not have to pick through shit vampire films, killer kumquats, and possessed footwear.
Re: POLL: Categories on the HMF board
Agree. This is also a brand new site. Up and running for what, not even four months? It takes time to make all those threads again, and not just make them, but discuss them. The "few days trial run" is pointless. Needs way more than a few days to see if it's going to work or not.Slaughterhouserock wrote:The main reason I'd want more boards is to make finding what you're looking for easier. We're either all in or all out, in my opinion. Bring back every board and then some just like it used to be, or change the name of HMF.com. Are we all in or all out?
My vote

Pretty much either that or just “other franchises and series” or something like that. Basically looking for a halfway house between what we have now and what we had st old HMF if so inclined.Slaughterhouserock wrote:I would assume he means the "General Horror" board.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:What's "Catch All"?

Re: POLL: Categories on the HMF board
I said in my idea of a “trial” to put it up today/tomorrow and leave it till mid November. Hardly just a few days. But enough to see if we still discuss some of these things.
Re: POLL: Categories on the HMF board
We'll see where the poll goes today and tomorrow night I'll most likely put them up.

Looking at it, I doubt there’s harm in starting to put them up. Then it’s just a question of whether they come down at this point.Jason wrote:We'll see where the poll goes today and tomorrow night I'll most likely put them up.

Only if you fancy it.Jason wrote:True. I will get on it tonight then.
And I think an October Challenge section was requested and makes a lot of sense.

It was requested? I don't remember that. Neat.showa58taro wrote:Only if you fancy it.Jason wrote:True. I will get on it tonight then.

Unless you're referencing my post about making a board for it earlier today. :p

Re: POLL: Categories on the HMF board
Trial option has it, so I guess we go till mid/late November to see how we are doing, and then redress the balance.
