It’s good to see more people speaking out against abuse. Hopefully it’ll make things generally better.

This is one that I am believing Takei until I hear more evidence. Rose McGowan has actual evidence. If this actually happened, then that dude wouldn't be all like "all I want is an apology and it hurts my feelings!".
Foo, let's say you were raped in the butt by some hippie liberal. You wouldn't just want that guy to apologise and be done with it. I know I wouldn't be as nice. I'd want to get revenge.
Re: Liberal Hollywood and the Pedophilia Problem
Gonna be worse for women in the end. While they certainly were treated as objects before, expect less opportunity now. Why risk even meeting with someone who is gonna fling accusations on social media when they lose or do not get a job?showa58taro wrote:It’s good to see more people speaking out against abuse. Maybe it’s just me but I think that you can hire women without fearing that sort of thing in just about every part of life.

Agreed it's similar to the "she wore a skirt so it's her fault" kinda thinking.showa58taro wrote:Or that.Tiggnutz wrote:Not what universe I think what century would be a better questionshowa58taro wrote:In what universe do you live? Assaulted? I thought he just fucked a bunch of chicks while married? If you are right, then fuck him too. It still isn't as bad as fucking a 13 year old boy in the pooper.Foo wrote:Yeah, Dave Letterman only assaulted a hundred chicks...Jmac Attack wrote:This liberal hates liberal Hollywood. Re: Liberal Hollywood and the Pedophilia Problem
He created an atmosphere of hostility and intimidation towards women. Those on his staff were always lower level and it was like a shooting gallery for Letterman and his writing team. Sleeping around was the way to advancement. He also used his public platform to silence and intimidate when they came forward.Jmac Attack wrote:Assaulted? I guess i live in the real universe. One where people in real positions of power are making decisions that are likely to have fewer consequences. Right this minute, do you not think there are people doing hiring who immediately exclude women with names like "Mercedes", "Lexus", "Shaniqua", and "LaShonda", because they would rather not give them the opportunity than deal with the bullshit that would come about if they had to fire them later? Or have to deal with social media calling them names because it was simply a poor fit?showa58taro wrote:In what universe do you live? It happens. It is the flip side that people are afraid to discuss.

The Reds still has Nick Lache!!!!
Re: Liberal Hollywood and the Pedophilia Problem
I think there is a new discussion to be had about streaming services and similar. Specifically when we are seeing the works of people removed from them for allegations and behavior in general. For instance, you pay for hbo, and hbo decides to remove archived programming because of certain performers.
Is this type of thing going to be generally accepted? Ok to remove se7en and American Beauty from Netflix?

I'd be shocked if Netflix had either of those movies on their list, anyway.

I know they had American Beauty up because it was on my watchlist a little while back. Not sure if it's still there.

But there are literal laws against this sort of thing, and there’s a lot more focus on diversity and equality in most of the Western world. These kind of made up horror scenarios are not the norm and they can’t be. Because it would be instantly obvious to HR and leadership teams across the board who discuss such things.Foo wrote:I guess i live in the real universe. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but it isn’t the norm and even in the instances you’re discussing the problem isn’t that women and men are increasingly able to speak out against rape and sexual assault. It’s that employers are being dickheads. We shouldn’t normalize assault ship that employers will gamble on more women being employable. That’s sick and twisted.

Laws! Literal laws! Like the laws that say don't cornhole kids, sexually assault people, etc.? Clearly that works...showa58taro wrote:But there are literal laws against this sort of thing, and there’s a lot more focus on diversity and equality in most of the Western world. Why do you think employers look at social media? They want to see if you are going to be a problem. Would you rather just keep looking or deal with someone who has a history of public discord?

Re: Liberal Hollywood and the Pedophilia Problem
Looking on social media to see if you're a problem is not the same as refusing to hire any women. This really isn't that complicated.Foo wrote:Laws! Literal laws!
