What direction do you want to go?! More automatic weapons? Tanks for tots?Jason wrote:In the absolute wrong direction.Tiggnutz wrote:Its a startJason wrote:Bump stock ban is no-no.
Re: Exploiting tragedy
Its an extremist way of looking at things. The vast vast majority of gun owners and NRA members want these things gone and also want better background checks and more responsible gun owners.showa58taro wrote:What direction do you want to go?! Re: Exploiting tragedy
Jason is the one wanting the opposite of banning these things. I guess removing all handguns and shotguns and allowing only the sale of fully automatic weapons, and explosives, is what he wants? I dunno.Tiggnutz wrote:Its an extremist way of looking at things. It seems to me that there’s plenty of scope to improve things without infringing on assholes wanting to horde things to kill with.
Re: Exploiting tragedy
I am not a gun owner. Running around banning things becayse of the way they look is pretty laughable. The problem is people, not objects.
The drug and alcohol abusing, super queer, lazy, narcissistic mindset is bringing about all manner of extreme behavior. Mass killings with bombs, knives, poisoning, or shotguns doesn't make me feel any better than someone shooting up places with a hunting rifle with some additional plastic and steel to make it look a little different.

People driving cars into crowds, hijacking planes, using bombs, etc. They are all the acts of man, not the acts of the object. Should a door to door confiscation force show up at grandma's house to confiscate her pressure cooker because wackos use them as bombs?

NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION
NRA's Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox Issue Joint Statement
(FAIRFAX, VA) - The National Rifle Association today issued the following statement:
"In the aftermath of the evil and senseless attack in Las Vegas, the American people are looking for answers as to how future tragedies can be prevented. Unfortunately, the first response from some politicians has been to call for more gun control. Banning guns from law-abiding Americans based on the criminal act of a madman will do nothing to prevent future attacks. This is a fact that has been proven time and again in countries across the world. In Las Vegas, reports indicate that certain devices were used to modify the firearms involved. Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law. The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations. In an increasingly dangerous world, the NRA remains focused on our mission: strengthening Americans' Second Amendment freedom to defend themselves, their families and their communities. To that end, on behalf of our five million members across the country, we urge Congress to pass National Right-to-Carry reciprocity, which will allow law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their families from acts of violence."

Re: Exploiting tragedy
The NRA is ok with regulating bump stocks but at the same time are calling for an expansion of right to carry. They are totally against banning AR-15s and similar.

I agree, right to carry should be nationwide I think the crime rate would dropFoo wrote:The NRA is ok with regulating bump stocks but at the same time are calling for an expansion of right to carry. They are totally against banning AR-15s and similar.

We are in a strange time. Re: Exploiting tragedy
What rules and preventative measures are there where an 18 year old reportedly flagged for violent tendencies can legally buy a weapon of war? Not a fuck ton, that’s for sure.zombie wrote:again, show me a state in the united states that does not have any rules or preventative measures? you can't do it. there are measures in place. just not what you want there to be, apparently.showa58taro wrote:But all of those things do have rules and preventative measures! Re: Exploiting tragedy
"Weapon of war"
Frightens me that you are so cool with giving incompetent government all the power and leave citizens helpless.
99% of the time you need a weapon for protection, the police are there after it is over to write a report about the blood that was spilled. Would prefer that be the blood of the bad guy.

And the prevention to these incidents is better parenting. Right now, we are reaping what we have sown. Continue down this progressive path and watch it get worse.
