if twins were held as unnatural, compared to one child birth from a pregnancy, might they have pretty similar issues, emotionally and psychologically? if they had to pretend that they were not twins. if their families felt shame because of their existence as twins. it could be perceived, after decades of this, that twins are just inherently mentally ill, because they're twins.
also fun fact, twins have been on the increase from around the 1980s, similar to homosexuals coming out?
and so we look at the individual for answers... what answers?

I would love to talk about virtue signaling now that I think about it. Thoughts?zombie wrote:it is largely true, in our current society. but it's not much to talk about or discuss. and there is stuff we could actually have some good debate or discussion about.Foo wrote:What did I say that is not 100% true?zombie wrote:when you don't want to actually discuss anything, but just want to point your finger, this is how to go.Foo wrote:
Tell people you are straight and people shrug. Go announce you are the queerest person alive on Facebook and people who barely acknowledge your existence will tell you how much they love you, how brave you are, invite you to dinner, and throw parties in your honor.
It is all part of the virtue signaling game. People use the gay person to enhance their own standing.

virtue signaling is something in that both conservatives and liberals partake. probably happens with any sort of group. it's not just something linked to coming out or to being homosexual.Foo wrote:I would love to talk about virtue signaling now that I think about it. Re: Biggest Pussy Who Ever Lived?
the reason that being gay gets more attention and more praise, now, than being straight is because it's overcompensation for decades (at least) of being marginalized and shunned and repressed. of being told that gay was wrong and unnatural. even still, some people seem to feel that way. so yeah.
when jews were marginalized and shunned and even imprisoned and executed, they overcompensated to the point, that even questioning or criticizing someone who happens to be jewish is held as anti-semitic.
as african americans and women are enjoying more rights, than in the past, they overcompensate. it happens. this is what comes from treating people as less than, as not equals. as tigg had already mentioned.

Zombie, I will accept your praise for any of the following:
- being white
- being straight
- being atheist
- being conservative
- being in an inter-racial relationship
- being a burger flipper
Tell me you love me, how brave I am, and reassure me you are there if I need to talk.
:p
...or you can praise me for being an epic asshole.

i've always tried to make it clear that i'm willing to talk or listen, at the least, if i don't know what to say, if you need it. and that goes for anyone else on the board.Foo wrote:Zombie, I will accept your praise for any of the following:

That’s what I mean, it’s clearly not the case that every situation and location is ideally suited to a straight man.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:In SoCal, if you're straight, you're boring by default.showa58taro wrote:Wouldn’t think that’s true. Unless you're living in or hanging out in prominently gay neighborhoods and social scenes, that wouldn't be the case anywhere lol.showa58taro wrote:That’s what I mean, it’s clearly not the case that every situation and location is ideally suited to a straight man.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:In SoCal, if you're straight, you're boring by default.showa58taro wrote:Wouldn’t think that’s true. It's amazing how much they get to party with hot women but other than that I can't say I ever felt marginalized or like an outsider as a straight guy living in Southern California. That's goofy.
