With Charles Krauthammer letting the world know he only has a few weeks left to live and also Anthony Bourdain passing away it made me think of just how fleeting life is and how much is wasted with hate and negativity. Two completely different men but both effected many with their insights. Just makes me think about life in general.

Re: Perspective
i guess it’s true. But at the same time it shouldn’t take cancer and suicide to prompt civility.
Re: Perspective
Its my own thing and cause of death is really irrelevant but it did bring self evaluation. I heard wise words that said everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about so be kind. Stuck with me.showa58taro wrote:i guess it’s true. But at the same time it shouldn’t take cancer and suicide to prompt civility.

You should teach that lesson to others and hopefully it sticks.

I’ve sworn off politics in most public fora. So tend not to comment much.Tiggnutz wrote:Everyone shouldshowa58taro wrote:You should teach that lesson to others and hopefully it sticks.

Life is precious but it is also up to us to give it value. I don't know much about Krauthammer other than he seemed to live an amazing and influential life despite breaking his neck diving into a pool. Obviously cancer is going to take him and that is a tragedy.
With Bourdain, I feel different. Enjoyed his work, but I can't get over the fact he killed himself leaving an 11 year old daughter behind. I don't care what anyone says, that is selfish. He had plenty of resources and could have spent every moment he wanted with his daughter and saw her into adulthood. The most important job in his life was left unfinished because of his selfishness.
I don't take the selfish statement lightly. If his daughter was into adulthood, I would feel differently. When I saw recent pictures of him, MacGowen, and Argento it looked like a drug abuse warning advertisement. People need to get their priorities in order and stop relying on drugs for everything.
