Though got pretty...confusing during the later videos, kinda lost the narrative, lol.
They clearly did not have the whole narrative planned out, tough to do that and not have things spin out of control.

The Meg ......... B

Just as satisfyingly ridiculous as I'd hoped. Statham still has the personality of cardboard, but now it's wet cardboard :P But it was really fun, and definitely first John Turtletaub movie I enjoyed since Cool Runnings. Doesn't take itself serious...but does not stoop to parody either, it had a good balance of knowing it's not going to be Jaws, and not Jaws 3.

I also dug that the token black guy started a token black guy rant, which had me prepared for some eyerolling, but he started saying real things to sympathize with, so I'm glad they knew the cliche and went beyond it.

I am left wondering what the Eli Roth version would've looked like, since he was attached to direct for a while beforehand. I know he walked because he wanted the big budget but shoot for an R movie, and the producers were like nah, but I'm still curious.

Then I recall him wanting to star as Jonas, which would've been terrible. Eli Roth can't act for shit. Statham is at least mediocre :P

Eli directing and acting would've got my interest more. The director of 3 Ninjas and Cool Runnings with Dry Sponge will be sure to deliver some hardcore shit, I'm sure.

They've already decided they won't be releasing the R rated version on blu ray. I don't understand that.

Don't think they filmed for an R rating. That was a condition why Eli left: didn't want to film his R rated version with a much smaller budget.

I read an article saying they had but the edited scenes would never be released.

Exactly. The one noticeable thing for me was the forcible use of Chinese to get into that market. But she was pretty so it’s all good. The young daughter was at times a bit too precocious for her own good. But hey, all good.

Li Bingbing is gorgeous. Hard to believe she's in her 40s.

If I remember correctly, she and her father were Japanese in the book.

Why Masi Oka was used to play a Japanese scientist with accent and everything I’ll never know. But I don’t mind.
