And honestly, are you trying or are you dreaming? For instance, if you were trying to build a car, you would be assembling the frame or something. If you are dreaming, you would be looking at pictures of cars you would like to build.

I think you might have the wrong idea about what I do. I got up this morning and did my spanish lesson. I responded to my emails and did a little paperwork, then I went shopping. Then I went to the restaurant to make a couple things (pimiento cheese and red chili sauce). I then went to the food truck and made some gravy, cut some onions, and then manned the deep fryer. I came home and returned some emails and such, then worked on some marketing while chatting with you guys and my GF.

What is the part of my day that you could not do?

in theory i could do a lot of that. but that's one single day, after building the business and having it a success for years. that is not representative of what it took to get there, and what it takes to maintain that. i can do tasks or learn to do tasks that i may not know how to do.

i'm still working on it. trying to get it to a point that i like. i wanted to have those pages as a physical representation to try to motivate me more.

You probably know it, but a trick that helped me solidify my plotting was just write a bunch of things on index cards, and then sort them until things make narrative sense to you. I stole it from listening to Bob Gale and Robert Zemekis talk about writing Back To The Future

Only person I am trying to emulate is my father. Not by the routes I take (I couldn't live the life or do what my father did - it's not something I've an interest in), but by pursuing stuff that makes me happy.

Other than that, I would have to imagine trying to emulate someone successful would just lead to disappointment.

I got a nice lecture about it from a blue haired lesbian. I offered to change it to the "Hitler was Misunderstood Burger".

You would think since it was a charity event where we were feeding hundreds and making exactly zero, she could have left her little opinions out of it. After cutting us out of the publicity for the event, and not inviting us back the following year, she invited us back this year. I offered to participate if she disclosed the amount made by the event and the amount delivered to charities. I did not get the info.

So the name was the issue? Bummer.

the issue was butthurt liberals. It was a 21+ event with $50 tickets and free beer. Not one person even hinted at being offended and most thought it was cool we went to the effort of having posters and cards with your drawing, had free limeades and homemade pickles.

We spent about $2,000 on doing the event, plus lost a weekend day to do it. They did a video walk around and profiled every business there. They stopped by tents, other food trucks, etc. Somehow they kept editing the footage every time the giant black truck was going to be in the shot.

Watching Ladybugs for the first time in, I don't know 20 years? There are some jokes that I don't think would go over well today. I know that's common for 70's and 80's, but surprising for mid 90's. There was just a joke of it sounding like Rodney was molesting Brandis in a dressing room.
