The "war on drugs" has made it exponentially worse.Foo wrote:I feel like cities should be safe places to raise a family in. Since you're going with the idealist route, how do you plan on eliminating drugs from human existence? Is it an attainable goal?

Don't unify all drugs as one it's the worst possible policy both for people against and for drug laws

What universe are you guys living in where heroin is not going to be easily accessible no matter what? You're not solving anything, just making fear-based justifications.

Simple fact people addicted to certain drugs will resort to other crimes to feed their addiction that destroys communities.

she's a cop, even if off duty. if she was going to be dishonest, why try for manslaughter or something similar, rather than getting off with no jail time for being a cop who fired at a suspected drug user or something?Foo wrote:
Well, the residents are saying some of her story is inconsistent with the way the building operates and there may have been more to the issue than just a mistake. Like she may have been asking to gain entry to the guy's home and there may have been some recent noise complaints involving that unit.
I have tried to open the wrong vehicle and the wrong hotel room door before, so I think it is possible, but there also could be more to it. Obviously a big difference in an accident and an execution and you have to prosecute correctly.

Why boil it all down to the "War on Drugs" rather than the million other variables? We have to change the culture. Going to jail is a way to meet contacts and get more street cred. Glorifying drug use is cool.

Druggies gonna do drugs and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Why not make the business of it safer?

Make heroin legal ok what happens when people don't have heroin? Should the government be waiting to supply it so you don't commit a crime to get it? Nonsense

What happens now when people don't have heroin? There's no difference at all. The same exact group of people will be affected.Tiggnutz wrote:Make heroin legal ok what happens when people don't have heroin? Should the government be waiting to supply it so you don't commit a crime to get it? Nonsense

Not all plans go as planned. Maybe it was a total accident. If not for the residents stating it is unlikely and introducing other evidence, her story would be more plausible. It still may be an accident. That is what they are investigating.zombie wrote:she's a cop, even if off duty. if she was going to be dishonest, why try for manslaughter or something similar, rather than getting off with no jail time for being a cop who fired at a suspected drug user or something?Foo wrote:

Do you think being a druggie is a destiny? Like there is no outside influence that creates them?Headhunter wrote:Druggies gonna do drugs and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Why not make the business of it safer?
Why would I never try heroin, yet someone else does?

Re: Asian small business owner is arrested...
Your idealism is noble, but very naive. There is no means by which you can eliminate human desire to get high. There never has been and there never will be. Sorry. Moralizing about it is pointless.Foo wrote:Do you think being a druggie is a destiny? Well what your saying ends up with the same outcome of it being legal or not. You want to get rid of a possession charge or something? If your house gets robbed by dope fiends your cool because it's legal? Come on manHeadhunter wrote:What happens now when people don't have heroin? There's no difference at all. It's the same outcome for the users. It's not the same outcome for the trade itself. Do you believe there was no difference between the Chicago Outfit supplying alcohol and legal corporations supplying alcohol? Either way, people become alcoholics or enjoy it casually.Tiggnutz wrote:Well what your saying ends up with the same outcome of it being legal or not. Do you believe it was better, worse or exactly the same for gangsters in the 1920s to run the alcohol trade, as opposed to legal corporations?Tiggnutz wrote:Maybe we could regulate smack something fiends need all day everyday.
