No fucking way is it better than Raging Bull, at anytime or any stretch.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:First time full viewing of Ordinary People
I have strong doubts this is better than Raging Bull.

You're god damn right it is!DancesWithWerewolves wrote:I also find it odd Hutton was put in the Supporting category since he's clearly the lead character. But I guess I shouldn't think too much on that, he wouldn't have won against DeNiro anyway (best acting performance of all time, imo)
IDK though, DeNiro has become a big douchebag late in life, so now I lean towards a Wolf. Or Berenger in Platoon.

Now I know what today's Best Picture winner I'm gonna put on. It's been quite a few years since I've last watched it too.
Platoon.
Platoon.

Out of the Supporting Acting noms that year, I still think Berenger should've won over Caine (Dafoe would've been acceptable)...but that's also because Hopper wasn't nominated for Blue Velvet, which would be my choice by a landslide.

Chariots of Fire and Ben-Hur are both great movies imo. In the Heat of the Night is pretty good. Never even heard of Rebecca.

Rebecca's a Hitchcock film. Still didn't score a Director Oscar for it though.Monster wrote:Chariots of Fire and Ben-Hur are both great movies imo. In the Heat of the Night is pretty good. Never even heard of Rebecca.

Summer of 84
Re: What are you watching?
it's okay. Really didn't get that 80s vibe like Stranger Things and Super 8 managed though.Monster wrote:Summer of 84

I guess Super 8 was late 70s. Close enough.

Still excellent. Unfortunate reputation that it's Marty's only Oscar win (so far) when he should have won for better movies previously, but that doesn't mean he didn't earn it for 2006 either. Jack should've been nominated though. Ruined his streak of getting an Oscar for each decade since the 70'sJmac Attack wrote:I need to revisit that. I remember digging it a lot.
