The scarecrow death was badass, and the "Me Tie Dough-ty Walker" monster was awesome.
Would recommend giving it a go.
IT chapter two though, very tempted to find a double bill. Looks epic. Trailer is great. The “I’ve craved you . . . I missed you” line is epic.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
how would scary stories be enjoyable to kids? is it cause of levity and such, or cause they pull their punches, so to speak? is it more comedy than horror or what?
Re: Recently Watched Movies
It's definitely more horror than comedy. But the lead actors are like 15 year old kids. Some of the kills are unique and kinda brutal, though.zombie wrote:how would scary stories be enjoyable to kids? is it cause of levity and such, or cause they pull their punches, so to speak? is it more comedy than horror or what?

i'm picturing something like night of the demons or return of the living dead without the nudity. would that be accurate at all?Jason wrote:It's definitely more horror than comedy. Re: Recently Watched Movies
No. lol. Seb's Goosebumps thing was a little more accurate. These kids find a book in the house where a girl died. When they take the book, it begins writing stories and the scenes play out as the book is being written. Almost like an anthology horror. It's one plot, but each story randomly writes about different characters and kills them off.zombie wrote:i'm picturing something like night of the demons or return of the living dead without the nudity. would that be accurate at all?Jason wrote:It's definitely more horror than comedy. Re: Recently Watched Movies
Okay, Scary Stories (SS) is similar to the Goosebumps movie, but I feel that SS is more akin to Are you Afraid of the Dark in the tone of things. It's not campy/tongue in cheek like the Goosebumps show, as SS has more violent and gross out scenes throughout. It builds a good bit of suspense especially during the Red Room segment. It's a good introductory/stepping stone for a average horror fan/teen that wants to delve deeper into the genre.

He probably wasn't. I've only read the books and saw a few episodes of the TV show. Never saw the movies, which is probably what he was talking about.zombie wrote:i didn't get that seb was talking about the books.Jason wrote:Not the books. :pzombie wrote:goosebumps was very comedy!Jason wrote:No. lol. Re: Recently Watched Movies
i guess i'll have to see it for myself, whenever, to see if it hits me the way it seems to have hit you. but that doesn't help seb out.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
It's mostly just worth a watch. I didn't love it or anything. It was better than I expected, though.zombie wrote:i guess i'll have to see it for myself, whenever, to see if it hits me the way it seems to have hit you. but that doesn't help seb out.
