Re: What Are You Reading
Finished Dark Tower: The Waste Lands (well that was an abrupt cliffhanger, I could see why fans were anxious for him to continue for so long)
Now beta reading for a writer friend, currently titled The Technomancer.

It took six years to get the next book and resolve that cliffhanger. Never again.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Finished Dark Tower: The Waste Lands (well that was an abrupt cliffhanger, I could see why fans were anxious for him to continue for so long)

Re: What Are You Reading
Struggling with this beta reading bit. I've read and listened to a lot of do's and don't's with writing for...I guess almost 2 years now, and most of the time I'm like "who'd do that?".
We'll I'm coming across a draft here filled with a lot of Don't's. The biggest problem is multiple first-person views, with an icon representing the change in view, but this wasn't clear early on and it made things very confusing. Other stuff is minor don'ts, like Passive Voice, and using "was" too much (I'm still weeding out too many of those myself). But yeah, multiple first person perspective...yikes.

Re: What Are You Reading
Haven't read that yet, but I usually see it listed at the bottom of Flemming's due to the cringy racism.Tiggnutz wrote:Casino Royale was so good that I had to get Live and Let Die. Cant wait to get this started and Bond to start kicking some SMERSH ass
Goldfiner has a little racism, but not enough for me to put the book down.
Thunderball was put down, but not because of the casual racism, but how Rapey Bond got at a spa...
Outside of those two, I haven't had problems with Casino Royale, Man With The Golden Gun, or Moonraker.

Re: What Are You Reading
For my filler book between Dark Tower series I've got the first of the SD Perry Resident Evil series in process. Actually not shabby and goes quick without feeling like I'm reading a kids book, I went and ordered the other six books.

Re: What Are You Reading
The movie actually redeemed Kubrick's The Shining in King's eyes, which was quite the feat. Warning: the final act of Doctor Sleep deviates because it is in fact a sequel to Kubrick's film too, but in a great way.Tiggnutz wrote:Finally finished Doctor Sleep it was good and now I can finally watch the movie

Re: What Are You Reading
Now starting Dark Tower IV: Wizard & Glass
Wasn't really looking forward to this one after hearing it's mostly backstory and some have quit with this installment, but I gotta power through if I want to meet my reading goals.

Re: What Are You Reading
There is no doubt some very cringe racism in this book and it being an audiobook really amplifies itDancesWithWerewolves wrote:Haven't read that yet, but I usually see it listed at the bottom of Flemming's due to the cringy racism.Tiggnutz wrote:Casino Royale was so good that I had to get Live and Let Die. It would be a form of suicide to have this playing in my car while driving through Baltimore
Re: What Are You Reading
I also finished Crisis on Infinite Earths. I enjoyed it but probably would of more if I knew half these characters. There are so many Boys,Lads,Kids and Girls in the DC Universe.

Re: What Are You Reading
Really? I like Wizard & Glass. The plot doesn't really advance much due to the prequel-ish nature of the book, but it's still good. It's the books that come after that really drop off in quality since he rushed them.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Now starting Dark Tower IV: Wizard & Glass

Yeah, I found it funny that two separate sources complained about it around the same timeframe.Slaughterhouserock wrote:Really? I like Wizard & Glass. Re: What Are You Reading
Some shit went down in Live and Let Die that caught me off guard because its something that happened in the movie License to Kill.

Re: What Are You Reading
What did License to Kill pull? Not that I'd complain, because if they didn't properly adapt the first go around, I have no issue of certain ideas getting used for later.Tiggnutz wrote:Some shit went down in Live and Let Die that caught me off guard because its something that happened in the movie License to Kill.
