Do you own a 4k player? I have thought about getting one or just waiting until I get a PS5DancesWithWerewolves wrote:A Quiet Place - Mondo 4k Steelbook Edition
Jaws - 45th Anniversary 4k Steelbook
Braveheart - 25th Anniversary 4k Steelbook
I had Gladiator's Steelbook in my cart, but it disappeared when I went to checkout, apparently it's no longer available for preorder, so I'll have to keep an eye out for it when it gets back to pre-order status.

Re: Most Recent Purchase
I got a 4k player last winter. Not that upscaler POS either.
I made these purchases at Best Buy, btw, in case anyone else is collecting these particular steelbooks.

We all know that was mostly aimed for me. Lmao.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:I got a 4k player last winter. Not that upscaler POS either.

And yeah, I was gonna ask if you got them from Amazon or Best Buy. Jaws, Braveheart and Gladiator are musts.
The 4K player is cool, but I have a blu ray/4K steelbook of The Thing from Shout Factory, and I really didn't notice much of a difference, even with the 4K TV and 4K HDMI cable. The DVD and blu ray are night and day, but blu ray to 4K wasn't really that noticeable. The main difference I noticed was the 4K player taking way longer to load the shit. :p

Re: Most Recent Purchase
I don't think their The Thing was a 4k scan though.
The one problem I have with my 4k player, is it doesn't turn on when I want. It's like the power button on the remote doesn't do shit, and the power button the front won't be acknowledged, unless I unplug and replug the power chord. I haven't grilled Sony about it yet, but it's basically just a nuisance.

Re: Most Recent Purchase
Yeah, Just double checked their specs on their site. The Thing is a 2k new scan, so it wasn't 4k. The disc itself was produced just before 4k scans were more common, even though the steelbook case is newer, it's the same disc.
Re: Most Recent Purchase
That's weird as hell. Are there different releases? I just pulled it out and it has a 4K scan, a 2K scan and a disc by itself for special features.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Yeah, Just double checked their specs on their site. Re: Most Recent Purchase
Well shit. Now they're really going into double-dipping. Their delayed steelbooks (as in, released their first editions, only to realize steelbooks are cool years later) used to be the same discs, just with new cases.
Re: Most Recent Purchase
I've got close to 100 steelbooks and Shout's version of The Thing is right up there at the top of the mountain with a few others...DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Well shit. I haven't seen either Town That Dreaded Sundown movies. But I know the true story that it was based on, though. Really crazy shit.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Arrow edition of Suspiria blu ray

I'd dip for the Arrow blu ray of Suspiria, but I have the 3-disc steelbook from Synapse and it is amazing.
Wouldn't mind Funhouse blu ray, but I own the DVD and I don't love it well enough to double dip...

Re: Most Recent Purchase
My bad, I meant Synapse, not Arrow. I don't know why I wrote Arrow. Same company that did the bitchin' Demons steelbook (though this isn't a steelbook, that I know of).
Re: Most Recent Purchase
Yeah, for Synapse steelbooks, I have Demons, Demons 2, Phenomena, Popcorn, Suspiria and Tenebrae. A lot of those are 3-discs with the movie's soundtrack. They're a close #2 behind Shout Factory, for me, as far as steelbooks go...DancesWithWerewolves wrote:My bad, I meant Synapse, not Arrow. I don't know why I wrote Arrow.
