Harry Potter is fucking bullshit is what it is. Riddle me this, they can conjure up all these cool potions and spells, someone shapeshifts into a beast, fly, all kinds of stuff. How come Harry the Hero is the only fucking kid in Hogwarts with glasses? No one in the land can conjure up some decent fucking eyesight for that poor schmuck? Do you realize how much of a liability it is to have to carry around glasses all the time? Especially in battle? Voldemort rocks your shit, but you can't cast any spell back because he kicked your specs right into the dirt so you might turn Hermione into a pterodactyl on accident or summat. #1 bullshit, that show.zombie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 12:00 pmtime travel is fantasy.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:53 amIt takes the time travel nerdery of BTTF and Bill and Ted up a notch.zombie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:41 ami don't know about primer?Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:38 amWhat about Primer?zombie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:22 amgattaca is a good case for exception to the rule. i think that movie exists to speculate and warn of where we could be headed, above anything else.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:50 am What about something like Gattaca? Re: December 5th 2024
A purely sci-fi film is a rarity. It's almost always paired with another genre, mostly action, drama, and horror. As a trekkie, I object to Star Trek being labeled as strictly sci-fi. Sci-fi is the base, but it's always mixed with other genres.

Re: December 5th 2024
Easily explained: wizards are dumb. Think about it. They go to wizarding school for seven years, but there's not a single fucking class that teaches you anything beyond "here's how to cast this spell" or "here's how to make this potion". I'd be surprised if any of them could do basic math. And I'm saying this as a fan of the Potter books/films.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 12:15 pm Harry Potter is fucking bullshit is what it is. it is fictional science when it's explained that way, yeah. this isn't about denying that science exists in fiction, or that it shouldn't exist. but fair enough.Slaughterhouserock wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 1:05 pmTime travel is absolutely sci-fi. It is literally fictional science.

Re: December 5th 2024
Which series? Picard is hit or miss and the last season was mostly for fans to get their nostalgia fix, but I love TNG, so I can't complain. Lower Decks is hilarious. Strange New Worlds is great. Haven't watched Discovery or Prodigy yet.

if you consider them not to be horror, lump them in your assorted genre section.Jason wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 1:27 pmWhere do I put Seven, Silence of the Lambs and Aliens?zombie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 1:21 pmseparate horror from your other genre. this is an order.Jason wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 1:13 pmThis is exactly why I alphabetize my collection and don't organize by genre.zombie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:39 amboring does not remove something from a genre.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:33 amWhat's something like Blade Runner then?
