first, there is no "black community", any more than there is a white community. obama, samuel l jackson, michael jordan are black. they are not, even a little bit, a part of the community that those kids are raised in. so, we can start there.

Imagine if the majority of the black community raised their children normally... You have to start somewhere, why not start with where we know there is gaping problem? Instead we're afraid to address the issue for fear of being branded a rassist.

That is the honesty I'm talking about. Imagine if Detroit elected a highly respected black governor who made a speech about doing his part, but the community needs to do an equal part of coming together and not murdering each other every day?

If MLK were alive today he could echo my exact sentiments and everyone would jizz their pants. A white person saying these things will not be nearly as impactful, even if everything said is true.

you're absolutely right that it would be taken more serious, and have more of an impact, if voiced by a black leader to a predominant black community. the same would be true of a white leader to a predominate white community.
