Disney is the first company that is openly too greedy to allow anyone else to make a profit on the physical aspect and is pushing toward the goal of all physical media eventually being eliminated.

I'm one of those people. I love my horror film collection and will always add more physical media to it. I don't care much for streaming and only have a select few services. I prefer to watch the movies I truly love in my media room on blu ray/4K. Guess I'm just old school

if you can show that they are targeting other physical media beyond their own, i'll concede. otherwise it's just the market. maybe they're too greedy but that's how capitalism works.

There's something special IMO about owning a physical copy of a film, especially if it's a limited edition or whatever. The bulk of my horror collection is films from the 80's and early 90's stuff. Some of them came with poster's and shit from Shout Factory which was nice.

The idea is that the film is preserved in the movie you buy and you're not subjected to whatever weird edits the people with the rights decide to make to the film. I always prefer watching it the way the director intended. And those are usually the edits that occur in the bluray/dvd era. Dumb and Dumber might be my favorite comedy and I haven't bought the bluray because they only released the unrated edition, which is usually the best way to watch a movie but the scenes that are added just didn't really work for the movie. Theatrical is the only way to watch Dumb and Dumber.

we must have talked about possession here at some point? it has become one of my favorite 80s horror flicks. top 20-25 of the decade easily. i probably should dig into the features, but i haven't yet.

as for director's cut being worse than theatrical, midsommar falls into that category as well. i can't think of many more that do off the top of my head though.

I guess I've been in a midlife crisis since I was like 15. Lmao.

I started out buying VHS and right as I began building a nice collection, DVD took over and I was devastated for a while but I came around to DVDs pretty quickly.

I have somewhere around 3-4,000 titles on bluray/DVD and lots of TV shows. Most of my physical media buying is upgrading a lot of my older DVDs to more upscale and nicer bluray sets.

Top 20 80s horror is in phenomenal company. I had no idea you dug it that much. Very cool.

I watched it a couple times and I'm in need of a rewatch it. But I also dug the hell out of it.
