You know damn well it wasn't really about lack of water but about needed infrastructure for something so crazy. Our hydration and plumbing systems were built when, in the 50's? And no one, and I mean no one, wanted to gaze into their crystal ball and foresee this clusterfuck, and then budget and construct a proper hydro-matic response for entire fucking cities burning to the ground in no time, instead of the pop off the one ol' fire hydrant so the neighborhood kids can chill in the summer that we've had forever, not to be Superman. In which, again, only buys you so much, as you need to smother this bitch from above.Jason wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:41 pmNo shit. But the thousands of homes that could have been saved if the fire hydrants actually had water is the main focus here. Not to mention the government funding the illegal homeless who are starting fires to loot properties and businesses is also not ideal.Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:14 pm Good grief. Anything credible I have read and actually talked to firefighters worth a piss all agree, you're grasping at straws. The best way to beat a wild fire is in the air and the 100 mph winds absolutely fucked that. Throw a million more gallons of water and firemen on the ground and it's throwing paper towels on a mudslide. That unfilled reservoir, a 1000 more firemen and that 17 million is a one hour drop in the bucket to the train of devastation coming through.

Also, go ahead and keep bitching. You know what one of the biggest things to draining the water is? People leaving all their sprinklers, hoses, showers etc on even though they abandoned ship hoping to save their homes, fucking the firemen from using it purposefully. Now I empathize, but in an effort to save your own shit you're fucking over everybody else and they couldn't care less. So NOW Newsom and big daddy government will have to come in and control all our water because you fucking dopes. Thanks a lot selfish fucks. I can't even take a fucking shower without being monitored by the government because of your bitching.

Re: California Burning
And absolutely zero preventative measures are being taken to do what they can to prevent fires like this. Dead wood is ripe for the taking and is only going to fuel the fire. Which it did. There are people in the forests filming it saying L.A. needs to clean the shit before it burns the city down. My county does controlled burns up the ass to prevent shit like this from happening and we never have fires of this magnitude. Why do you think that is?Reign in Blood wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:52 pmYou know damn well it wasn't really about lack of water but about needed infrastructure for something so crazy. The entire city of Los Angeles is a giant flame and they're not allowing these trucks to help unless they each pass an emissions test. I genuinely ask if it can be any dumber than this...

From what I can see, all my HMF family is safe. That’ll do. Glad everyone is ok.

Nothing is on fire in the UK. Just cold weather. Which I like to be fair. It’s awful though, my in-laws paid 10k to do a US trip with 4 days in LA, so that’s going very badly. But they managed to get a change so it was San Diego and then Las Vegas instead. Means I’ve followed the fire a bit more than I would normally.Jason wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:29 pmshowa58taro wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:28 pm From what I can see, all my HMF family is safe. San Diego is much better than Los Angeles anyway, in my opinion. I think it'll end up being a better experience, depending on what they had planned in L.A.showa58taro wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:34 pmNothing is on fire in the UK. Just cold weather. I think they just want to see the sights and feel the vibes. The biggest thing they have commented in is the abject poverty on display in some areas including rampant homelessness. We don’t get much of that in the UK. But they also say it’s got some really cool places to be and nice food. So far they like the trip a lot. They particularly enjoyed a tram ride in SD apparently. Re: California Burning
They definitely need to stay further on the western end of Los Angeles to have any semblance of a good time. San Diego is a lot more family friendly and less crowded overall. The trams are good there.showa58taro wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:42 pmI think they just want to see the sights and feel the vibes. That’s a pretty good description. It feels friendly om the photos they share on WhatsApp

Re: California Burning
i feel grumpy.
"diversity hire" is an excuse to use someone's characteristics to a demographic to blame for their ineptitude, or for ineptitude of the employer or company. it's a garbage political talking point. and it justifies mistreatment or judgment of those demographics that they belong. so, if you are against "anti-white", you should be against this too. see it for what it is and don't let yourself be swayed into it because it's easy and immediate.

Re: California Burning
Blame the employer, but what would you like to call it when they hire someone mainly to check off a diversity box?

Re: California Burning
Stupid and often dangerous is what I would call it and insulting to people who got their positions from merit who get lumped into the diversity groupingReign in Blood wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:19 pm Blame the employer, but what would you like to call it when they hire someone mainly to check off a diversity box?

Re: California Burning
DEI is not relevant to these wildfires at all.
Not removing until John Elway is fired.
Re: California Burning
The point is that they're too focused on diversity and horse shit rather than implementing all the preventative measures that could have prevented a fire from reaching such levels of catastrophe.

Re: California Burning
1) Hire the unwhitest, gayest out of shape person you can find
2) Defund the fire department and put money toward homo coffee shops
3) Praise dudes who like licking wieners
4) Preventative fire measures
They checked the first 3 boxes only.
