you have every right to not care for gay movies. my only concern is that you're calling them out for themes of pedophilia, when you wouldn't if it was heterosexual? you want to make a big deal, specifically when it's homosexuals doing the pedophilia. but take no issue otherwise.

and i do feel a little bit judged in all of this, because i don't take the same stance on themes of fiction as you do. :P

I promise you, I haven't judged you in the least bit about any of this. Or anything ever, for that matter.

call me by your name got 1. so now my question is... did either brokeback or milk feature such a relationship? could that be the difference in the awards received? interesting thought.
10 oscars between them? Holy fuck, and they were terrible.

I can't imagine how godawful this pedophile movie is if it only got one.

No.

Hollywood disowned a ton of actors who were accused of trying to (or being) involved with underage boys. Then they create a movie about it and its glorified. Lol. Hypocrisy.

No, they can make movies about illegal immigrants murdering and raping American women if they want, I just won't assist in funding it.
okay. got confused by the "one of which was underage" thing. no problem.

i guess that is hypocrisy. hope they also didn't make movies about women being taken advantage of (50 shades something) or any number of other things that some other part of hollywood has issue with. it's not some big massive hive mind that walk in lockstep.

yeah, you can choose not to watch any movie you don't feel like. and i can watch any movie i want to. neither of us is more moral or upright or virtuous because of the choice in movies we enjoy or don't enjoy.

could be the themes that brought call me by your name down, in comparison. but that doesn't support the bias and agenda in this conversation.

No worries.

Ironically, the hypocrites there would be the tens of millions of women in the audience funding the 50 Shades movies while simultaneously making a big stink about women being objectified and taken advantage of. HI-larious!

I've tried at least twice, but couldn't find the appeal.

Speaking of Dog Soldiers, it may soon be surpassed by an 80s werewolf movie I'm currently watching (not for the first time, but it was always pretty close to Dog Soldiers).

Under 18 =/= Pedophile. I know the fire&brimstone idiots here in the states like to think so, but it's not. 13 is the legal determination for pedophile, while the actual definition entails pre-pubescence.

Sex offense? Maybe...depending on the area. Oh, it takes place in Italy, where the age of consent is 15, so nope.

Gay? Yeah it's gay.

Ah... Italy... they found their it's-ok-to-poke-underage-boys-as-long-as-it's-at-this-location loophole. Lol.

Well played liberal Hollywood.

Without looking, a bunch I'll bet.
d likes brokeback mountain quite a lot, if memory serves. i have no idea how many oscars either of those movies won, off the top of my head.
I do. Lots like it, though a lot that admit to like it also admit to hating it because it makes them depressed, lol. Off the top of my head, i think it won 3 Oscars: Director, Musical Score, and Adapted Screenplay.

Brokeback didn't get Picture or Best Actor. Ledger lost to Phillip Seymore Hoffman and PIcture lost to Crash.

hmm... i was wrong on both counts apparently. (stupid misleading charts. :P) both still won more than call me by your name. they were also nominated for 8. and 3 for call me by your name. so yeah. they stomped all over it, by comparison.
