i don't see any super huge red flags on a skim through of the policies she's pushing for. i do understand why the right will never stop hating her though. ending reliance on fossil fuel, abolishing iCE. "workers own the means of production" etc
and the "burn down cities" criticism was apparently about ilhan omar more than aoc, my mistake. i guess it never does hurt to do a read up even if i never took that so seriously to begin with.
though laz did seem to hate her rhetoric generally. so i'd like to know what that's about.
Who are you talking about?
I generally hate anyone just FYI
fair enough. i didn't mean it like a judgment, just curiosity.
Firstly, I still don't know who you are referring to here. You mentioned me hating someone's rhetoric. Who?
I haven't bothered reading the whole thread because it's all over the place lol
secondly, there's no need to apologize, I didn't feel you were judging me or anything.
Lastly, my last response was meant to say "I generally don't hate anyone"... it was a typo

nothing except for the title points to trump specifically, though absolutely it could mean him. nothing points to the pakistani national working on behalf of any government, though possibly pakistan or iran. "uniparty" is just desperate fear mongering.

alexandria ocasio cortez.
I have been critical of her over the years because she's just fucking stupid and she's fake. And for the record she's not the only one.
If you want to know more we can certainly have that discussion but in a nutshell she doesn't know what she is doing, she thinks/acts like she's more important than she actually is.

no, i don't really have that big of an interest in her. everyone seems to be saying fake, so you're in good company. at least on the hmf front.

"Fake it until you make it" has become the norm in politics
In everything! Throughout my life I've watched the human race turn into robots.
if we were tobots, they wouldn't have to shout so loud to make us see their way.
Humans have never abandoned the tribal mentality and until they do nothing will change.
what do you mean by nothing specifically?
What I meant is, take a good look at the world as it is now and then look back about 3000 years. We're still divided into the us vs. them mentality. Only now we call them nations instead of tribes, kingdoms or empires and It's not just with borders either, we're divided on everything. Socio economic status, religion, politics etc. All these things that keep the infighting going. How many wars have happened and yet we still haven't learned that violence and bloodshed doesn't solve the underlining problems?
I don't pretend to have the answers to these problems. I'm only pointing out that if something doesn't change sooner than later we are going to destroy ourselves. Because as we currently are is not sustainable.

okay fair. a lot of it has to do with fear of difference. fear of the other tribes, as you might say, and manipulation of those fears and separation from those other tribes. so in that respect, it's going to be hard to change that. it's animalistic and so much of politics play into that. i would say that rightwing or conservative leans much more heavily into that kind of mentality and manipulation of it than democrat. and mind you neither is without fault in this regard, so don't take me as saying the democrats are the way forward. i just see them as less of a problem in this particular case that we're discussing. but i'm willing to have my mind changed?

You're not wrong, fear is the ultimate factor in all of this. People fear what they don't understand and others prey on that fear for their own gain. this has been happening forever. Our species must learn to stop giving into fear so easily and while it won't be easy to accomplish we must do it. As for the political parties, I hate both of them equally. I admit the GOP has been acting worse in recent years with the rise of MAGA but it won't last forever and if Trump looses in November then I foresee MAGA collapsing entirely in the few short years after. The question then is what will take it's place? The return of the more moderate (and rational) republicans or another crazy far right faction?
As for the Democrats they too are going crazy, especially with the Sanders wing that gave rise to AOC and those others. Neither side is offering any real solutions to the problems we're facing right now and that is a whole other discussion.

Socialism is the answer. Capitalism just divides us and kills us off, along with the whole of the planet. Destroy capitalism, save the world.

Claudia De la Cruz 2024.
Pure Socialism is not the solution.
Need proof of that. To get proof, we need to overthrow the capitalist system. So until we get a pure socialistic system, then I can't judge as to whether it's the solution or not. Best I can do is keep fighting for socialism, as capitalism clearly is a piece of trash system.
