But a rudimentary search of the timeline and exact quotes will show that the actual talking point that isn't working/makes no sense is coming from the leftist media.

CNN basically said everything you stated here in an article I just read. But looking at the timeline, the Floyd riots began on May 26th. A call was made by Jacob Frey (Minneapolis mayor) to Tim Walz on May 27th calling for the National Guard. "We expressed the seriousness of the situation. The urgency was clear. He did not say yes, he said he would consider it." Texts from the mayor's spokesperson to city employees backs up the story. At around the same time of Frey's call to Walz, the spokesperson sent messages to the employees saying "Frey came out and said the chief wants him to call in the national guard for help at Third Precinct. Mayor appears intent on doing." Next text. "He called the governor just now. Walz was hesitating". Finally late at night on May 28th he sent 100 guardsmen despite the mayor requesting "at least 600."

So for a full two days, the city of Minneapolis was burning to the ground and Walz stood down. Only under pressure from the mayor did he finally send a small fraction of what was requested. Then the next day in a press conference on May 29th, Walz said it was Frey who delayed the response and blamed him for letting the situation spiral out of control when there is complete evidence to the contrary backed up by text messages and phone call records.

Now getting to the Trump quote, he said “I fully agree with the way he handled it the last couple of days". Which was said by Trump on June 1st. So instead of accusing Walz of being the moron that he is in his initial response, he commended him on actually finally doing his job. If Trump had shit on him in that moment the media would have told everyone that Trump was upset that he sent the National Guard.

It's hard to trust any poll. To weed out the ones that oversample their own brand, oversample in states that are heavy red or blue, and then pull an aggregate from the ones that are historically more accurate, etc...
