Re: Trump Assassination Attempt Discussion
this also is not indoctrination. it is just having a counselor in schools for kids to talk to if they feel like they need to.
Re: Trump Assassination Attempt Discussion
To be fair, I wasn't just speaking about LGBTQ issues, I was also speaking to certain states (OK the most recent) pushing for the bible to be taught in public schools. That's a form of indoctrination. And it's unfair to children who are being raised in different belief systems.
For parents who want that, that is what religious based schools are for.

Fair enough.zombie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:00 amyeah, fair. any parent is going to feel undermined if their child doesn't want to talk to them about something that big in their life. so the parent can talk to their kid about why they weren't comfortable sharing it. try to understand the kid's point of view and repair whatever is causing that distance. rather than try to ban it in schools. to be clear, i don't think that understanding caring parents are the ones primarily pushing for that. but maybe some of them do get caught up into it.Lazerus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 10:47 amThere are some things a child might not feel comfortable talking about with their parents/Guardian. There was a lot of shit I never told my parents back int he day but told a counselor. Hence why I support there being school counselors. Again the couple I know, given their personalities I could see them being upset that the child didn't feel like they could speak with them as the parents etc. Not every persons situation is the same is basically what I am saying. You cannot assume that non-abusive parents wouldn't feel undermined. Depending on the subject matter but I would imagine a topic like transgender would spark those feelings in the parents.zombie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 10:41 ami don't know. if responsible caring parents are being made to feel undermined. i don't know how that is? the kid is likely going to talk to their parent or guardian, rather than a school counselor or coach or whatever. or talk to both of them about the same things, at worst. but you feel differently? show me what you mean?Lazerus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 10:38 am
I was speaking about parents in general. I personally know some parents who are not abusive but would feel that is undermining them as the parent. So it's a catch 22 situation in a way.
Anyway, I'm glad I don't have kids because the shit kids and parents have to deal with these days is just fucked.

i'm unfamiliar with the bible thing. but that' seems to be a violation of church and state. unless it's more just being included in the libraries or something. that's fine. but teachers shouldn't be teaching any religion or reading passages of their book to students. so i hope that isn't happening in a widespread way.Lazerus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:38 amTo be fair, I wasn't just speaking about LGBTQ issues, I was also speaking to certain states (OK the most recent) pushing for the bible to be taught in public schools. There's a push for something similar in my home state. Unfortunately there are a group of people who want to take the U.S. about 100 years into the past. This issue being one of the many thing they are trying to force. And given SCOTUS is firmly pro MAGA now, I wouldn't put it past them to make this legal somehow.

if there is evidence that some teachers are indoctrinating kids with lgbt stuff (including trans) or that parents are legitimately concerned about that widespread, then i'd like to see it. maybe i get a bit defensive against the rhetoric from desantis and daily wire and others about how this is a whole serious thing and show examples of things that are fake, twisted to fit their narrative, or severely overblown that i don't give enough credence to it when it is actually happening.

No, not at all. In fact I thought we were having a good conversation. My response was short but not because I was offended by your response. I was agreeing with your statement but was pressed for time due to an up coming meeting. I have no evidence to support that indoctrination is the left’s agenda that’s only my opinion and I could be wrong. Im not in favor of it being taught to kids in elementary schools simply because at those ages kids a very impressionable and get confused easily. Example, a child is taught at home that being gay is wrong but is told the opposite at school. Do you see how that could confuse the child later on?
That’s a weak example but I believe you understand what I am saying here. High school is fine, at that age they should understand but elementary kids? No. Just my opinion.

i don't think kids are being taught much about lgbt, except maybe that they exist and are just a different way to be. so yeah, i guess i can see a problem if a parent wants to make gay out to be a problem or worse. i don't think that is good to teach kids to hate a demographic, but it would be confusing yeah.

Idk perhaps I am looking at this wrong, that’s entirely possible. But I have nieces and nephews who I worry about not just because of this but also the school shooting issue. Things are just very crazy right now.

school shootings is the scary thing. i live right next to a high school in colorado, so i get the concern. hopefully it becomes less common than it has been, but with the political catfighting, i can't see it getting better...
Re: Trump Assassination Attempt Discussion
When did you leave FL? Colorado is nice I have spent some time there for work.
And I agree. Unfortunately until rationality resumes (if that happens) nothing will change on that front.

who are mark dice's "wrong people and wrong corporations" what are his motives for telling you to fear them? we should be wary of the people who are telling us of the evils in the world, as much as of those that they tell us are evil.
ask this, does mark dice want you to think for yourself, or does he want to tell you what to think?
