new mutants is a favorite? hmm.. maybe i let critical reception sway me too much... maybe i need to actually watch.

Here's the thing about that - I have almost the entire 100-issue first run of The New Mutants (I'm missing about eight issues or so, some of which will be really expensive to buy, such as Deadpool's first appearance), so as someone who absolutely loves the comic books, I felt the characters were portrayed fantastically.

As a horror movie? It might just be really generic. But as a fan of the comic book series and the characters? Some of the lines in the movie actually made me squee, as fangirls say. So I accept that most people probably have reasons to not rate it highly, but on a personal level, I was really happy with that one.

It's a damn shame, too, because I'd argue it's a better film than The Mummy and Dracula, both of which were directed by the same guy (Karl Freund).

I have a pretty massive movie collection. If I do the CTRL + F search and type in by year, the 80s is so heavily horror and the early 2000s is so heavily comedy.
