Re: 7.8.18
I don't link fandom with having your home look like a retail store. The best thing I ever had going was the 800 disc movie jukebox. No clutter, fast, don't have to leave the couch...zombie wrote:it's weird to be a horror fan. are you gonna stop doing that too?Foo wrote:Foostradamus predicted it! My queer minions are merely spreading the word. It is weird to have your home look like a Best Buy.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Probably Halloween. I feel like that maybe the one that is at least liked by damn near everyone. And I pretty much assume most of use still go out of our way to own our copies.
I was watching season 2 of Netflix's Queer Eye reboot, and I came upon the first thing one of the Fab 5 guys said that triggered me. He, the decorator one, was going through this person's things and noticed they had a lot of movies. He comments "someone's gotta teach this family about streaming." I lost my shit and all Alli could do was laugh.
Physical, even a digital copy, will always trump streaming, dillhole. Flaws in streaming: lack of selection, internet can go out or be glitchy, and just because you might've streamed it before ... things get removed...usually when you're in the mood to watch it again (subsection of Lack of Selection though).
Re: 7.8.18
Feel like shit all day. Lower back is killing me, it's still fucking 96 outside at 8:30pm. I need food and Coke delivered for a movie marathon, ASAP.

wasn't linking them either, beyond both just being considered to be weird apparently.

I am pretty sure I have it. Was popular at the time I was still collecting.zombie wrote:how many of you own audition? i feel like that's a more horror fan-y movie to own. it may put foo out though. but there's still a chance.
Re: 7.8.18
Why make your house look like a Best Buy when you can make it look like an Arby's or something? Can have pictures of cowboys, meats, and veggies up on the wall. Big fucking hat logo and a replica milkshake machine right in the bedroom. Sexy.zombie wrote:Foo wrote:I don't link fandom with having your home look like a retail store. Re: 7.8.18
Mine looks way better than a Best Buy, because I have more than 10 horror movies displayed
I like the video-store/library look. If I were to get rich enough, one of my wants absolutely would be a room dedicated to movie shelving. Probably get some of those movie poster lightbulb frames.

Re: 7.8.18
I have to go to court on Wednesday. Was pulled over two months ago for headlight out. Cop ran tags and they were expired but had sticker. We accidentally put the sticker on the wrong vehicle (my parents and I have 8 vehicles/trailers to keep up with). The cop saw the registration was titled to another vehicle with the same owners and address. It was resolved within 30 minutes of the DMV opening the next morning.
Not sure if I am supposed to go there and act like I am cross examining the cop if he shows up or if I am supposed to beg for forgiveness. One would think this was such an obvious honest mistake and was quickly resolved that wasting any more time on it serves no one.

I have to check when I get home...I am not certain I own a copy...
My best bet would have been Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I could see something like Fright Night being a dark horse candidate. Seems to be one of those pleasing movies that no one hates. Got enough cable play to be on people's minds, always available, old enough to gather an audience, but not so old as to feel like it is completely from another generation.Dream wrote:DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Probably Halloween. to be fair, if I find I don't have Halloween, I shall remedy that!

Re: 7.8.18
TCM is one of those movies that has kinda run the circuit in terms of perception. I feel like it used to be far more polarizing, but it settled in among the classics.
I know there were various times when it got both over and under hyped, and suffered from a string of misconceptions. Like there was a crowd who were let down expecting more gore and chainsaw, and there was a crowd expecting it to be more like an 80's slasher with Leatherface basically being Jason with a chainsaw. Also, there is not much in film that rivals the pure fucked upness of about three scenes in TCM in terms of intensity. Nubbins can give anyone nightmares.
