Re: All-Time, Tier-1 Level Movie Scenes
These are in no order. Trying to use ones not shown already.
This scene always stuck out to me as one of the greatest sequences ever filmed, and the reason I've always preferred The Godfather part 2 over the first. The build up, tension, combined with the music, leading to the moment where Vito proves he comes through, and we see him as a true anti-hero.
Based on pure delivery and atmosphere. All other brilliant Loomis monologues will always bow to this one, imo.

Couldn't find the full sequence by itself, so I'll link several. The climax to Last of the Mohicans. Coupled with that absolutely perfect piece of score, by Trevor Jones based on an old celtic tune called The Glade (I may have mispelled that).
Still the bar for werewolf transformations to me. The Howling is very close, but this feels more real, and the living room light doesn't hide anything, and still looks painful as fuck.
Perfect switch-a-roo parallel editing. There's many great scenes in this movie, but I love the editing trick during this sequence.
Another stellar raid scene
Loved this scene before it seemed to become trendy. Excellent example of building tension with little dialogue, no music, just ambient wind. The paranoia is thick.
The scene where The Shining starts it's thrill ride for me, after stewing for a while. I love Jack's performance here, just overpowering Wendy, and features one of my favorite movie lines ever (starts about 3:23) in the clip.
For the sheer gonzo of this scene. Ash's sanity flips, it's creepy and funny all at once.

This is not my favorite Star Wars movie (third favorite) but this is my favorite scene from the whole franchise.

I watched An American Werewolf in London and the Shining yesterday and those scenes were incredible

I've heard some folks find Stallone's voice comical when he breaks down. I guess the humor is lost on me. Great scene.

I've heard the actress who gets sprayed did not know the puppet would pop out in this scene so her reaction is real.Tiggnutz wrote:Must be acknowledged
