2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
These 80s synth movie scores are unbeatable.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
gonna continue on with stopmotion and loop track. if i can squeeze another in after the two, i will but it's not likely.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
rude little girl in this movie... curious what they do with the character.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
so rude and controlling now. but at least it's for a purpose. i think i like where this is going.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
i'm starting to get the sense that this is more of a drama using a little bit of ick and gore to draw in horror fans. i hope that it turns around in the last half hour.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
so there is actually horror. it reminds me more than a little of a couple of my favorite films in the genre but doesn't quite come together the way that they did for me.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
and i'm expecting loop track to be my last for the night. here's hoping that it's a good one.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
the way this guy is insisting that he go the trail alone, i worry that he has a body in his pack that he wants to bury and hide in peace.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
aside from him acting pretty awkward and paranoid, this is slow going as well. oh well, i tried.

Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
gauging the online reaction so far, I may be in the minority in *not* liking Terrifier 3 the best of the lot. I still think it's pretty damn good, but I didn't like it as much as 2.
And though I gave 2 a pass for the lack of nudity because it seemed like Leone was respecting Sienna as a character, I see no reason to avoid the nudity with the podcast bitch in 3. Also seems like there's 10 or so minutes missing before the final confrontation.

Seeing Jason Patrick was a pleasant surprise, even in a small role.

Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
I think the bad reviews were mostly hung up on Hemmingway's bad acting and the laughably bad CGI transformation fx (in addition to critics just having a hate boner for horror in general). I always liked it, even with those flaws mentioned. Pare has some clunky dialogue readings too.
Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
The director's cut version on my bluray cuts out 25 seconds of the transformation because it didn't translate well to film like they wanted. So the end when he transforms it cuts out most of it and you just kind of see the feet burst out of the shoes and things like that. Didn't look bad at all.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:18 amI think the bad reviews were mostly hung up on Hemmingway's bad acting and the laughably bad CGI transformation fx (in addition to critics just having a hate boner for horror in general). Such a great movie. I'm cooling off on the 9.5 a little though.

Yeah the director's cut is a lot more forgiving of that transformation. Have you seen the regular version or only the director's cut?Jason wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:30 amThe director's cut version on my bluray cuts out 25 seconds of the transformation because it didn't translate well to film like they wanted. Re: 2024 October Challenge Discussion Thread
I only ever watched it on the theatrical version because I only had the DVD, but it's been many years. I opened the bluray for the first time and it gave me the option for either one, so I did a little research and found that the director's cut is easily the way to go, so I went with that one. Didn't disappoint.DancesWithWerewolves wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 12:37 amYeah the director's cut is a lot more forgiving of that transformation.
